Is Your Daughter Naked on MySpace?

 

I don’t allow my kids to have a myspace yet: they’re 11 and 14. I don’t think it’s appropriate for them and I’d rather they make friends with people in the flesh than some unknown-possible predator onscreen!

I’m not a Mom, but a disabled grandfather who can’t get out much anymore. I’ve got three granddaughters who are 3, 10 and 13. The older granddaughters have “MySpace” pages but they are heavily monitored by my daughter and son-in-law who have to approve any photos placed on-line. I’m a retired computer programmer and have been able to “hack” into my granddaughters “MySpace” pages (even though I have regular access) so it can be done fairly easily, it only took me about 5 minutes to go in the back-door. I think any parent with girls under the age of 30 needs to regularly check their daughters “MySpace” pages for inappropriate photos, posts, etc because kids these days don’t seem to understand the global implication of posting things to the Internet. It only takes a few minutes to “hack” into “MySpace” or “FaceBook” sites and copy photos/posts for publication elsewhere.

I had to make my daughter delete all her myspace photos for this very problem. Social networking sites are not appropriate for teens in my opinion. I let my daughter make one and I made one also so I could monitor what was going on and it has been trouble since she started it. Many of us are getting just too comfortable with the internet.

I DO think having brains and personality go farther than racy pictures. I just recently turned 15, and a few months ago when I just got into high school I thought that sexuality was the key. I flirted hardcore, teased like it was my job- never actually did anything except for a little kissing here and there. But the more that I thought about it and how fun it was, it wasn’t worth it. It wasn’t who I am. And when I stoped and started talking to some of my close guy friends about it, they don’t like it. Well, they DO, but its not what they like in girls in the long run… or really the short run. But back to the actual post, I do have some pictures where my shirt maybe was yanked down a little lower than it should have been- but nothing showing. I think thats okay. But this stuff is softcore porn and shouldn’t be allowed.
