Study helps access preemies survival rate: Research suggests doctors and hospitals should consider four factors when assessing a premature babies survival rate including birth weight, sex, whether a mom was given steroids before delivery to mature the baby's lungs, and whether infants are "singletons" or part of a multiple birth. These factors allow doctors to predict survival with a 3% margin of error, according to the study published in today's New England Journal of Medicine.
