Graduating to Drunk Driving?

Friday, May 16, 2008

This T-shirt got 44 seniors suspended at a Michigan high school and could possibly exclude them from prom and graduation ceremonies.

It's been a long-standing Stevenson High School tradition for seniors to wear T-shirts that rankle the teachers, but this year they may have gone too far. This year's T-shirt is emblazoned with the words: "Puschin' It To The Limit" on the front and and Class of .08 on the back, in reference to the legal blood-alcohol level for drivers, got 44 seniors suspended.

I think it’s funny. Are we really going to take everything so seriously from now on?! Except the really serious things like global warming, war, poverty, etc.

I think joking about drunk driving is in poor taste, but the punishment is way over the top. How about something like making them change and attend a drunk driving assembly or some such?

granted that there are many serious issues to address today i doubt if those whose lives have been forever changed by the death of a loved one that was caused by a drunk-driving incident would regard the t-shirts as “just h.s. hi-jinx/fun” walk a mile in the shoes of someone who has experienced this loss, and then consider whether others need to “grow up” for believing that the message on a shirt could make light of a very important issue in today’s society.if your a senior in h.s. your still underage-and underage drinking is a BIG problem in our society.

underage drining is only a big problem in your society because the drinking age is ridiculously high.
