Obama captures valuable Edwards endorsement: Senator John Edwards endorsed Senator Barack Obama Wednesday afternoon for President of the United States. Both Obama and Clinton have sought the critical endorsement since Edwards left the race earlier this year. The 19 delegates that Edwards won are now free to support either Obama or Clinton.
Mother loses daughter and son in same week: Just two days after 18-year-old Jennifer Carrigan was found murdered on her prom night, her brother has died from injuries suffered in a single car crash. Twenty-year-old Billy Carrigan was on his way home from college after learning of his sister's murder when he crashed his truck and suffered critical injuries. Billy died Tuesday in a California hospital. Our hearts go out to their mom in this unimaginably tragic time.
Death tolls soar in natural disasters: A United Nations representative said the cyclone death toll in Myanmar will likely surpass 100,000, as rescuers continue to face poor weather conditions and fear continued flooding over the coming days. In China, over 19,000 people have been reported killed by the massive earthquake that turned an entire city into rubble and could top 50,000 or higher.
Girl Scout sells 17,000 boxes of cookies: Fifteen-year-old Jennifer Sharpe sold a boatload of Thin Mints and Samoas this year. The Michigan teen is thought to hold the national record for the most Girl Scout cookies sold...ever! Jennifer sold 17,328 boxes of cookies to be exact and, thanks to her efforts, her troop will get a 10-day, all-expense-paid European vacation. And that's how the cookie crumbles. (Couldn't resist.)
