Momlogic's Julie says her husband's "man cave" is one of the best things to ever happen to her marriage.
It seems "man caves" -- converted basements or garages transformed into "manctuaries" where guys can escape the stresses of life -- are all over the news these days. But I guess I was ahead of the curve on this one. My husband has had his casino-themed "man cave" for almost three years now, and I personally couldn't love it more.
Some women oppose the concept of a guy's-only space: Why the hell should they get their own room if we don't get ours? But I say they're missing the point. If a guy has one designated room to hang his beer mirrors, neon signs, and deer heads, that just means you have the rest of the house to do whatever you want.
When my guy is in his "man cave" (translation: converted garage) smoking cigars and oozing testosterone after the kids are put to bed, I luxuriate in long bubble baths, read trashy tabloid magazines, and enjoy a little well-deserved "me-time." I guess you could say that while he's in his "man cave," the rest of the house becomes my "mom cave." And I'm certainly not going to complain about that.
