One Of These Things Is Not Like the Other

They say nothing is black and white -- not true when it comes to these newborn twins.

Twins -- one with white skin and blue eyes, the other with dark skin and brown eyes -- were born to a mulit-racial couple from Germany last week. The mother of Leo and Ryan is from Ghana and the father is from Germany.

The genetic occurrence is extremely rare -- about 1 in a million -- but we were able to find a couple other instances of ebony and ivory babies being born.

Oh my, those kids couldn’t be ANY cuter if they tried! I hope they embrace their different sameness and enjoy life!

Oh they are TOO cute! Not only the newborns but the other pictures you found too. That last set of twins are the same age as my son. Wonder how different they look now as teenagers.

These babies are not really “Black” and “white”. They are both biracial and just examples of how genetics work. My husband and I are both African American. We have one very fair child (who looked like Ryan above) and one darker child (who is much browner). If we had been a biracial couple, our kids would have been labeled as these children were. Many African American families have children with varying shades of color - from very fair white skin to very dark brown skin. This is nothing new.
